We made it through Florida without a tropical storm problem! Well...other than St. Pete, but the show still went on in all the rain. Orlando was typical Orlando- insanely hot and insanely humid, but amazing crowds and fans all over. Hey, at least they mowed the grounds before the show this time, right!? Anyone who went last year knows what I'm talking about.
I stumbled on this rad Drummer vs. DJ ordeal hosted by Kia today. The drummer of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Jon Wilkes, and DeeJAy Capone have this set up where Jon drums over Capone's mixes. The whole set up today was awesome and you can easily tell those two have a blast doing what they do. It's all improv and freestyle- how it gets pulled off blows my mind!
I caught up with a few bands today, like Middle Finger Salute, iwrestledabearonce and The Cab. I also, totally by happenstance, ran into the designer who made all of this year's Warped theme. The logos, characters, the color schemes- all of it! He was pretty stoked to see it on everything out here.
Today I caught Mike Posner and Haste The Day really early. I'm pretty sure that HTD's drummer is the best drummer on this tour. I actually couldn't figure out how he was keeping time and drumming parts with a stick practically out of his hand at any given time. It was amazing! I also saw Streetlight Manifesto who absolutely killed it on the main stage. I think it's an excellent combination of a sick band and Florida loving ska.
Tonight we have a very long haul to get up to Hotlanta, so all of the buses are heading out early tonight. Thanks for a fabulous and sweltering time this weekend Florida!
